Accommodation Registration
Article 39, Paragraph 2 of the “Law of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of Entry and Exit” stipulates that foreigners residing or staying at accommodations other than hotels must, within 24 hours of check-in, register with the public security authorities at their place of residence, either in person or through the host. This means that foreigners must complete accommodation registration at the police station with jurisdiction over their place of residence or at the hotel within 24 hours of check-in.
About Passport
In case of obtaining a new passport within the country, foreign experts must replace the Residence Permit for Work at the immigration department within 10 days.
Verification Certificate of Physical Examination Record
Foreign experts need to take a physical examination or apply for a Verification Certificate of Physical Examination Record after arriving in China. The application procedure may take 1-3 work days.

Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit
According to Chinese regulations, upon entering the country, foreign experts need to promptly apply for the Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit. The application should process through the Long-Term Foreign Experts Management System by the respective department or school.
Foreign experts are required to submit the following documents:
1. A digital copy of the passport information page, valid for at least six months.
2. A digital copy of a valid visa or residence permit.
3. A digital copy of the entry stamp.
4. A digital copy of a 2-inch front-facing, white background photograph taken within the last six months.
5. An employment contract.
6. Application form (This should be processed by the respective department through the university’s long-term foreign expert management system).
7. A digital copy of the Verification Certificate of Physical Examination Record.
Residence Permit for Work
The respective school or department should ensure foreign experts apply for the Residence Permit for Work at the Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau's Exit-Entry Administration Office, as a first priority once the Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit has been obtained.
Foreign experts are required to submit the following documents:
1. A printed copy of the Notification Letter of Foreigner’s Work Permit and the Decision on Granting Administrative Permit (obtained by the university from the Foreign Experts Bureau).
2. Original passport.
3. One recent 2-inch color photo with a white background, showing the applicant’s full face and without a hat.
4. Valid accommodation registration issued by the local police station or hotel where the applicant is staying (hard copy or digital photo).
5. The original Verification Certificate of Physical Examination Record.
5. The original Certificate of Employment issued by the International Affairs Office.

Extension of the Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit and the Residence Permit for Work
The respective schools or departments must handle the extension procedures for the Notification Letter of Foreigner's Work Permit and the Residence Permit for Work of foreign experts three months before their expiration. Otherwise, foreign experts may risk their work and residence permits expiring, which could result in them staying in the country beyond the permitted date. The application should process through the Long-Term Foreign Experts Management System by the respective department or school.
The required documents for an extension are the same as those for the initial application, with the exception of the medical exemption certificate.
Permanent Residence ID Card
A Permanent Residence ID Card is a legal identification document issued by the National Immigration Administration to foreigners who meet the requirements and are approved to reside permanently within the country.
Under current policy, foreign nationals holding the rank of associate professor or higher, or those with a doctoral degree engaged in long-term work (excluding postdoctoral researchers), are eligible to submit applications. For specific details and application requirements, please refer to the latest policies issued by the respective department at the time of application.
